Monday.com's API is GraphQL and versioned: the API version header decides which fields and behaviour you get, so pinning it keeps a workflow stable through Monday's quarterly releases.
Column values are written as JSON specific to each column type, such as status labels, dates and people. Getting the format right per column type is most of the work in a Monday integration.
The token belongs to a user, so items are created with that user's permissions. A dedicated integration user keeps automation activity distinct on the board.
