Spojit
Power BI automation

Keep Power BI reports current, automatically

Collect data from your store, CRM, ERP and APIs, land it where your Power BI semantic model reads it, then trigger the refresh, so reports are current without anyone exporting a file.

  1. Every morningtrigger
  2. Pull orders and paymentsaction
  3. Land rows in MySQLaction
  4. Refresh Power BI modelaction
  5. Report currentdone

Power BI is only as current as the data behind it, and in a lot of businesses that data still arrives as a weekly export. Spojit replaces the export: it pulls from the systems you run, lands the rows in a database or warehouse your semantic model already reads, and calls the Power BI REST API to refresh the model when the data is in.

How Spojit connects Power BI

Spojit calls the Power BI REST API with HTTP Requests, authenticated by a Microsoft Entra app registration that has access to your workspace. Data is landed in a source your model reads, for example MySQL through Spojit's built-in connector. There is no pre-built tile: Miraxa builds the requests.

What you need
  • A Microsoft Entra app registration with access to your Power BI workspace
  • A data source your semantic model reads, such as MySQL or Snowflake
Automations you can build

What you can automate in Power BI

When

Every morning

Spojit does

Load yesterday's orders and payments into the database behind your model, then refresh it

When

A month closes in your ERP

Spojit does

Land the final figures and refresh the finance report for the board pack

When

A refresh fails

Spojit does

Post the error from Power BI to the data team in Slack

When

A JSON API holds the data you report on

Spojit does

Flatten it into rows and land it where Power BI can read it

What you get

Built for real Power BI work

Data where Power BI reads it

Rows landed in MySQL, Snowflake or another source your model already uses, so nothing in Power BI has to change.

Refresh on arrival

The model refreshes right after new data lands, instead of on a guess of when the export finished.

Failure alerts

Refresh status checked and failures sent to the right people with the reason.

Integration notes

Good to know about connecting Power BI

Microsoft is retiring push and streaming semantic models, with new ones blocked after October 2027, so we do not build on them. The durable pattern is to land data in a source the model reads and trigger a refresh through the REST API.

On shared capacity (Pro), a semantic model can be refreshed eight times a day in total, and API-triggered refreshes count toward the same eight as scheduled ones. Premium capacity is limited by resources instead, so refreshes are timed to when data actually lands.

An app registration needs the Power BI tenant setting that allows service principals to use the APIs, and access to the workspace itself. Missing either one is the usual reason a refresh call is refused.

Refresh is asynchronous: the call starts it, and the result has to be read from the refresh history afterwards, which is how failures get reported.

The difference

Why teams automate Power BI on Spojit

With Spojit

  • Uses landing tables and refreshes, not Microsoft's retiring push datasets.
  • Works with any source with an API, including JSON APIs that Power BI cannot read cleanly on its own.
  • Refreshes are triggered only when data lands, which matters on shared capacity where refreshes per day are limited.
FAQ

Power BI automation, answered

Can Spojit push rows straight into a Power BI dataset?

Microsoft is retiring push datasets, so Spojit lands data in a source your model reads, such as MySQL or Snowflake, and then refreshes the model. That keeps working after the change.

How many times a day can it refresh?

On shared capacity, eight refreshes a day in total, including scheduled ones. On Premium capacity, refreshes are limited by capacity resources rather than a fixed number.

Which sources can feed Power BI this way?

Any system Spojit can reach: Shopify, WooCommerce, NetSuite, Stripe, Klaviyo and other APIs, landed in a database your model reads.

What is possible depends on your plan and authorized Power BI API access. Some endpoints are gated by the vendor or your account tier, so not every workflow is available on every account from day one. You can request a feature or integration any time, and we will get in touch to figure out how to make it work.
