The workflow, step by step
Pick up the file
A schedule checks an SFTP folder, or a Gmail or mailhook trigger receives the file as an attachment.
Parse the rows
CSV tools parse the file and check the columns before anything is written.
Match existing items
Each row is matched to an existing item by a key column, such as an order or job number.
Create or update
New rows become items and existing ones are updated, with values formatted for each column type.
Report the result
A summary of created, updated and skipped rows is posted as an update or sent to the team.
